Karma Kagyu is one of the four main Tibetan transmission lineages of Buddhism, where the profound and effective methods of the Diamond Way Buddhism are transmitted.
The core teachings of the Kagyu lineage are the teachings of Mahamudra, specific methods for the practitioner to realize the nature of his or her own mind, which never has been separated from the state of Buddhahood. This realization comes about by following a gradual path, starting with Preparatory Practices and going on to more and more profound methods.
Augsburg is a 2000 year old city located in the middle of south Germany. Under the spiritual guidance of His Holiness 16th Gyalwa Karmapa - the spiritual head of the Karma Kagyu Lineage - Lama Ole Nydahl founded the center here in 1982. The center is run under the spiritual authority of Kunzig ShamarRinpoche by disciples of Lama Ole Nydahl and his wife Hannah Nydahl , the first and closest western disciples of the late 16th Gyalwa Karmapa.
Over 20 years the center
was located in a house with a beautiful 3000 m² garden, in which a little
stupa - a buddhist monument symbolising the enlightened mind - was placed.
Since august 2003 we are in new and amazing rooms downtown. The address is
Gögginger Strasse 68, D-86159 Augsburg.
